Congratulations to all the Ursuline Students who participated in Scifest 2018 at IT Sligo on Wednesday 9th May. The presentations were excellent and the projects were very well received bythe judges. The students involved were Elizabeth Bartlett, Bebhinn Reilly & Rose Peyton with a project on perception of time. Fatma Dogan, Grainne Devaney & Leah Fehrmann did a project on homemade speakers. Eva Delahunt, Laura Denvir & Carrie McDaid investigated the crossover abilities in different sports.

Particular mention also goes to those student who were awarded prizes on the day. These included Ellen Bastible & Laura Keane who received a highly commended for their project on girls’ participation in STEM, Amy Torsney & Taylor Lynch who received a 3rd in physical science category for their project on the strength of hair types, Eilis Burke, Tara Duggan & Amy Hopkins who were awarded 2nd in the life sciences category for their project on absence of certain senses and finally, Eimear Kearins who was awarded 1st in senior Technology and Boston Scientific special award for medical devices based on her app to aid CPR in emergency situations. Eimear now goes on to compete for a place in the national finals in November at the Marino Institute in Dublin.

Well done to all those who worked so hard over the last number of months. You have made us all proud.
